Intrakat is set to undertake the task of replacing the lighting system in Preveza.

The street and urban lighting of the municipality of Preveza is being upgraded with the use of modern LED lighting technology

Under the collaboration between Intrakat and Εmexom, the municipality of Preveza will undergo a significant energy upgrade for its street and urban lighting. This initiative is part of a recently signed contract. The project aims to replace the current 8,170 lamps and projectors in the municipality’s lighting network with advanced LED technology.

Through the joint venture of Intrakat and Omexom, the municipality of Preveza in the Epirus region will undergo an energy-saving transformation in its street and urban lighting. This initiative aligns with local, national, and European energy targets. The replacement of the current lighting system with modern LED technology is projected to achieve energy savings of over 70%. Additionally, the upgrade will enhance the quality of lighting by reducing glare and improving visibility, particularly during nighttime driving.

It is important to note that the new generation LED lights, to be installed through the collaboration of Intrakat and Omexom, have an extended lifespan, eliminating the need for frequent replacements associated with the previous lighting system. This will alleviate the financial burden previously incurred by the municipality of Preveza.

Furthermore, the upgraded lighting network in the urban area of Preveza will have the potential to support future “smart city” applications, such as providing internet hotspots and installing sensors.

The project, with a budget of €7,000,000, is scheduled for completion within 12 months. Following the implementation phase, there will be a 12-year monitoring period, after which the project will be handed over to the municipality.
