Rey Nambatac helps Rain or Shine stay unbeaten in PBA preseason
MANILA, Philippines—Rain or Shine went on a second-quarter surge to bury Terrafirma, 121-95, in the PBA On Tour at Ynares Sports Center, Antipolo on Sunday.
Up by only seven, 52-45, the Elasto Painters went on a 13-2 rally sparked by an Andrei Caracut floater for a 65-47 spread at the intermission.
Rey Nambatac led the way with 21 points on top of four assists to keep the Elasto Painters unblemished after four games.
“What coach Yeng doesn’t want is us slowing down. Hopefully in the season, we can apply it in our game,” Nambatac said in Filipino.
Rain or Shine outscored Terrafirma, 36-23, in the pivotal second quarter despite the Dyip drawing 18 points in the period from Juami Tiongson. Tiongson finished with a game-high 25 points.
Nick Demusis provided the highlight in Rain or Shine’s lopsided victory when he threw down a fastbreak dunk for an insurmountable 83-63 advantage with three minutes left in the third period.
Gelo Alolino tallied 13 while Eric Camson nearly had a double-double with 11 points and nine boards. The Dyip dropped to 1-3 in the preseason.
