UAAP: Vanie Gandler to go pro, Faith Nisperos questionable for Season 86
MANILA, Philippines—Ateneo will be losing one of its key cogs for the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament while one may be questionable to return.
Vanie Gandler is sure to move on from the Blue Eagles after exhausting all her eligibility years while Faith Nisperos was non-committal after their last match in Season 85, where they lost to National University, 25-21, 30-28, 14-25, 13-25, 13-15.
“Yes, I’ll be moving on to the professional league. I haven’t decided [which team to play for],” Gandler said at San Juan Arena on Saturday.
In her last game under coach Oliver Almadro, Gandler finished with 20 points.
Nisperos, on the other hand, responded to a question on whether she would stay or leave Ateneo with a short and simple: “we’ll see.”
If this was, indeed, Nisperos’ last game, she came out swinging for 17 markers
When asked about his potential final season, Nisperos went on to say they need to work hard a bit more and start working smart as well if they want to reach the Final Four next season.
“For us, it’s a learning season and other than working hard, we also need to work smart as well. Everyone’s evolving and we need to evolve ourselves,” said the outside hitter.
“I think that’s where we lacked, we didn’t push more.”
The Blue Eagles will be ending their season with a 4-10 record, a far cry from their 8-6 record from a season ago.
