Kaya a win from first PFL title
The Philippines Football League (PFL) title is now Kaya-Iloilo’s to lose after a weekend win put the club on the cusp of glory.
Saturday’s 5-1 drubbing of Maharlika-Manila in Carmona, Cavite, put Kaya within a victory of claiming the elusive league championship for the first time.
Closest pursuer Dynamic Herb Cebu kept its slim hopes after a 1-0 win over Stallion-Laguna at home on Sunday, needing to secure the same outcome for the final two games of the season and hope that Kaya slips up in its league finale.
Kaya has 52 points after 21 matches, five clear of Cebu which has a game at hand.
The Iloilo side is scheduled to meet Stallion in the season finale for a chance to lift the PFL trophy that Kaya has been chasing for so long.
Top goal scorer Daizo Horikoshi hit the net for the 15th time this season to cap off Kaya’s convincing triumph at PFF National Training Center.
