SEA Games 2023: Jerard Jacinto wins second swimming medal for PH

Jerard Jacinto wins a silver in the 50m backstroke in the SEA Games 2023.

MANILA, Philippines—Jerard Jacinto delivered his second medal in swimming for the Philippines  in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games at Morodok Techo National Stadium: Aquatic Center on Sunday.

After notching bronze in the men’s 100 meter backstroke on Saturday, Jacinto rode his momentum in the 50m backstroke event and clocked in at 25.56 seconds for the silver medal.

Gede Siman Sudartawa of Indonesia took home the gold with a 25.16-second finish.

Teia Salvino Salvino also salvaged a podium finish with her 28.99-second swim in the women’s 50m backstroke event to end up with the bronze medal.

Indonesia also took gold in the same event with Thailand completing the top three at second place.

Their medals pushed the country’s count to four in swimming in just day 2 of one of the popular sports in the biennial meet.The

Philippines notched a silver medal in the women’s 4x100m freestyle relay thanks to the efforts of Salvino, Xiandi Chua, Miranda Renner and Jasmine Alkhaldi on Friday.
