PBA On Tour: Aldin Ayo wants more from rising big man Justin Arana

MANILA, Philippines—Justin Arana was a dominant force on the offensive end for Converge, powering the FiberXers to a 123-95 romp of Barangay Ginebra in the PBA On Tour on Sunday.

Arana had his way against the Gin Kings, posting a double-double with 30 points and 15 rebounds that went with two steals and three blocks.

Converge coach Aldin Ayo, however, knows Arana still has a lot of room for improvement, especially on the defensive end.

“He played good but there are still lapses on defense. We have rules that he failed to execute in the front court but offensively, he played well,” said Ayo, whose squad climbed to 5-4 in the preseason.

“That’s one of our main goals here On Tour, for our key players to get the confidence and rhythm so we keep on going to them as our options.”

Ayo expects a lot from Arana but is also wary not to put too much weight on Arana, who is only in his second season in the PBA.

“He’s still young. Justin, this is just his second season so we want to establish his confidence and we want him to be solid in his role in the paint.”
