MANILA, Philippines—Sisi Rondina sustained her fine form to keep Choco Mucho unbeaten in two games after sweeping Foton, 25-19, 25-19 25-14, in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference on Saturday at FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

Rondina unloaded a game-high 19 points built on 15 kills, three blocks, and an ace to give the Flying Titans an early 2-0 lead in Pool B before the Volleyball Nations League break.

“I always show how I work and how I play so I can lead by example to my teammates,” said Rondina, who also had six digs. “I’m happy because we were able to execute our coaches’ game plan and we gave them what they wanted for our team.”

Cherry Nunag also played solid with 12 points including three blocks. Des Cheng added 10 markers, as Deanna Wong dished out 14 excellent sets on top of two markers to keep Foton winless in two games.

Caitlin Viray, once again, stepped up with seven points as Kat Tolentino continued to play sparingly with coach Dante Alinsunurin baring last game that she is still working her way back to top shape.

Alinsunurin matched his two wins from his first stint in the All-Filipino Conference right at the start of the Invitationals.

“I’m happy with the result so far. We’re slowly learning to win because that’s what we want to happen step by step,” he said in Filipino.

Choco Mucho will take a 10-day break before facing F2 Logistics on July 11 at Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

Foton dropped to 0-2 with Shaya Adorador being the lone double-digit with 10 points, as setter Maji Mangulabnan only dished out three excellent sets.

The Tornadoes battle the HD Spikers on July 11 after the break.
